Problem:
A fire started in a medium size dentist office. The desktops, routers, servers and other critical devices incurred smoke damage. No one was allowed in the building until it was safe so getting access to the damaged equipment was impossible.
Actions:
The main customer complaints were:
The customer had patients coming in the next day.
The staff needed to know who was coming in and what time.
The doctors needed to know who to treat, what time and how many.
Billing and collection records were needed as patients existed.
Since the client was backing all their data everyday in a 10 day rotation as well as offsite replication the most current data was quickly restored to a second disaster recovery site and the client was up and running the next day without and downtime.
Result:
The client avoided a complete disaster by having a remote disaster recovery site, local tape backups and remote site replication as well as business continuity insurance.
